Thank you, oh anonymous person, for presenting me with a virtual tree for my lj!

Random epiphany of the day: Jack Coleman, who plays Mr. Bennet in Heroes, is the same Jack Coleman who played Stephen Carrington (v.2) in the 80s soap opera Dynasty. Let me tell you, this conjures up some really bizarre crossover ideas. (Angela Petrelli versus Alexis Carrington Colby: battle of the (grand)matriarchs!) (Come on, if they can get George Takei for this show, they can get Joan Collins.) (And we never heard that Mr. Bennet didn't have a still living mother.)

Friday [livejournal.com profile] fannish5: Five characters I want to be stranded on a desert island with:

1) Elizabeth Swann (PotC). She has proven skills to get us off this island. Also, I don't drink rum, so there'd be no point of contention.

2) Danielle Rousseau (Lost). Fantastic proven survivor skills on an island, in case we'll be there for a longer time. A tad unbalanced mentally, but Elizabeth is used to handling crazy people.

3) Jean-Luc Picard (ST: TNG). For one thing, the man needs a vacation now and then, for another, he has a great voice, and for a third, he's good at keeping people from killing each other. Always a danger in a stranded on an island situation. (What do you want to bet Picard has read Lord of the Flies as a boy?) Bonus point: Shakespeare debates! And lastly, if we stay on the island too long, we can count on Q showing up to either mock or help him.

4) John Crichton (Farscape). To balance Rousseau's crazy with his own crazy, because we could geek out about Picard being there together, and because he, too, has certified survivor skills. Also? Nice backside, Crichton, nice backside.

5) Julian Bashir (ST: DS9). Because we need a doctor, and despite my fondness for Bones, I like him best of all the space doctors. (Besides, do you think I'm stupid enough to pick Simon? He'd drive us all crazy because he'd only think of getting back to River.) The fact he's a dish doesn't hurt, either.

Lastly, a Dr. Who fec: Domestic Politics. It's Old School Who, featuring Jo and the Third Doctor, but should be accessible to New Who watchers as well (Jo is Three's companion, that's all you really need to know), as it offers a hilarious explanation why the Doctor, as Nine puts it, doesn't do domestic anymore.
