And the hiatus is over!

I have to say, my favourite thing about this episode was what it only teased at in one scene, the idea of powerless Rumplestilskin crashing on Ursula's couch for six weeks, complaining about the microwaved food. (And, going by the end reveal of the episode, creating fake internet identities.) If the show continues to do little webseries, that's the one I'd watch: Ursula and Gold as reluctant room mates. Pretty please?

Especially since he manages to get back to Storybrooke by end of the episode. I mean, I get why they didn't want to do an entire plot line in New York or wherever, but still, I was hoping for depowered Rumple for longer than this. Then again, having his magic back doesn't solve any of his self created problems, so we'll see. The biggest mystery is of course why Ursula and Cruella would, after already having been screwed over by Rumplestilskin in the past, trust him again to do anything that benefits them. Why they do keep their word at the end and sneak him into town. Then again, the flashback makes it clear Ursula at least is the type to keep her promises (she saves Maleficent as promised, too), which is an interesting whiff of more dimensionality. (I suppose that's also why Gold picked Ursula's couch to crash on. Presumably Cruella wouldn't have provided one. )

Cruella having the magic to subdue animals justifies why she should even have an interest in wanting to go to a place where magic is accessible, but she still feels weirdly out of place in the fairy tale flashback sections of the episode, though the character so far is great fun. Ditto for Ursula. (I want that room mate sitcom!) As to why they're in our world to begin with, I suppose that's where Mystery Dark Secret of Snow and Charming will come in. Which I'm all for if it Ginnifer Godwin something to do again now that the real life baby is a bit older. 'Twas disappointing that the reset button was pushed and Snow is back to teacher and Regina as mayer, because I had enjoyed the Snow the mayor bits, too. (I guess the show didn't know which job to give reformed Regina if not Mayor, which is a shame, because I think Regina as teacher would actually work. (She does get along with young children very well, if she's not trying to kidnap them.)

Belle and Hook conversation on Rumplestilskin and being played: one of those things I didn't know I wanted until I got it, but yes.

Regina and Emma buddyness: adorable.

Emma having the heart with the most darkness potential in Storybrooke: is that where we going in the second half of this season?

Thanks for clearing up the sorceror is not the author, show. Though I still say the only satisfying outcome for the whole "search the author" storyline is if it turns out the author(s) are the characters themselves, writing their own fates, with the sorceror providing the book as a documentation of same. Because I doubt the show is goingt to pull a Xena and Hercules and give us episodes where the scriptwriting team shows up.

Final reveal that Rumplestilskin created the entire crisis and solution in order to get Cruella, Ursula and secretly himself back into Storybrooke: should have seen it coming (Rumple behind a fake internet ID providing Belle with the spell to release the fairies - and Czernebog - from the hat makes far more sense than a real Oxford professor being able to translate fairytaleise, since Tolkien isn't around anymore), but didn't. Neat demonstration that yes, he's still got it! And as a sideline, also still knows how to play Regina, because post Zelena he knows giving fellow villains a chance is important to her. (I still want Regina to find out Zelena didn't commit suicide.)

I would happily watch a sitcom about Rumplestilskin living on Ursula's couch and eating all her food, especially if it also had Cruella in it. (I mean, he could always go to her house and steal her food, if Ursula had run out of ramen ...) I bet he taps on her fishtanks and doesn't put the cap back on the toothpaste, too.

I have no idea why they're listening to him after already being screwed over once, but then, why does anyone listen to Rumple after he screws them over the first time?

Well, threats seem somewhat effective, so he might at least clean his own plates. I wonder if he has some curse memories of doing non-magical world household tasks. (Which once again raises the question of whether he has memories of growing up in Glasgow and emigrating.)

I imagine that Ursula would not be thrilled if he set up a spinning wheel in her rather small living room *g*. He could probably find a free one on craigslist ...
