Belated beta reader appreciation day entry: honorh, if you had been my English teacher (in an AU where you're older), I'd have gotten the hang of those commas and " and some awkward expressions much sooner. kathyh, you are the superwoman (i.e. faster than a plane) of beta-ing, and consultant J. rules, too. andrastewhite, you provided much needed reassurance on my first venture into Sandman territory. hobsonphile, your beta of my second B5 fic, the one about Vir, wasn't just good, it brought you into lj world, for which I will be forever grateful. artaxastra, your comments on the Star Wars/Star Trek crossover were insightful and made it better. All of you: thank you - you rule!

An example of the power betas and other fannish friends exercise about one's judgment: despite really not wanting to do any more fannish writing due to RL obligations these next months, hobsonphile got me into volunteering for both idol_reflection and otf_manifesto. Speaking of the later: it's a community celebrating non-romantic/sexual relationships, and I happen to know several on my friends list are into that. Masq, how about an Angel & Connor essay? Rob, how about something about Nate & David? butterfly, how about Buffy & Xander?

Not that I'm against the sex, mind. In fact, Hobs got me to join snark_is_sex as well. Because, you know, sometimes it just is.*g*

Lastly, penknife issued a cool story challenge. Am torn whether I should not make my life completely impossible and write something there as well. Sci-Fi? Jossverse? What do you think?

Rob, how about something about Nate & David?

Oooh, sounds great. I'm a little swamped right now, but I'd definitely be interested in doing that over winter break. They happen to be my absolute favorite character pairing on the show. I'm the biggest Nate/David 'shipper ever. And of course not in any sexual/incestuous way. On a side note, my only major disappointment in the third or fourth seasons of Six Feet Under (and ya know me, there aren't many disappointments I have!) is that not as much time is devoted to their relationship as in S1 and S2. So, yeah, this sounds very cool. I definitely have an essay in me on the subject.

Even though I just wrote I don't have time now, I may end up doing this much sooner than I said I would. Just writing about it has made me more eager to write it! Homework may have to wait. ;-)

Well, If I weren't already writing a 'ship essay for Buffy and Xander, I'd jump at it. I might do it anyway, since I adore their friendship as much as I do the possibility of more. Then again, it would be a great chance to adore some of my other pairings that I like just as well as friends or potential lovers (most of my pairings are like that, really). I was limited to three 'ship essays, so I had a couple of pairings left over that I wished that I could write about.
