What is the matter, 2016? Politics aren't ghastly enough? Do you have to go after the fabulous ones?

I have watched Alan Rickman in so many different roles, and whether he had fun chewing the scenery (Sheriff of Nottingham) or was playing it low key (Colonel Brandon), he was always great. It's massively unfair that Death gets to have him, too.
Here he's reciting Sonnet 130:

This is so not fair. Instead of taking talented people who are actually contributing to the world, I wish that Death would take Trump the Lump. (I suppose that God doesn't want him and the Devil won't have him.)

In which case, we can let Keith Richards eat him.

I'm seriously wondering why I got out of bed on New Year's Day. So far, a lot of 2016 sucks.

I woke up to this, and it hit me surprisingly hard - in some ways harder than Bowie's (and that hit me), because I loved Rickman in everything I saw him in, from Truly, Madly, Deeply to Die Hard, to the Potter movies, to Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, to Dogma ... yeah, so much I loved him for, and in, and now he's gone. Cancer sucks.

That was lovely. He'll be sorely missed but what an amazing body of work he left behind.
