These last two weeks, Bavaria got occasionally lucky with sunshine. Living in Munich means the Alps are next door, so I hiked a lot. Which scenery like this, wouldn't you?

That's the Tegernsee, btw, which you'll see again from various directions. This particular view is what you get when you walk on the mountain path on the Bad Wiessee side.

I made it to the top of a couple of mountains. En route up the Fockenstein:

And the Fockenstein top:

I also climbed up the Roßstein:

Let it be known there was still snow on the way up. Which you had to walk through in order to get there. Like this:

Though what awaits up there is totally worth it. I mean:

The Achensee, seen from the Roßstein. That's Austria over there.

And then there was the Schildenstein. The upper regions of which also still featured snow. Proof:

And also had a totally-worth-it-view. The Achensee (and Austria) again, a bit closer:

Next up: the Neureuth. Back to our old friend, the Tegernsee, as viewed from up there (the other side of the lake, compared to the first picture):

The Grindlalm, very welcome place of rest:

Next: the Riedenstein. En route, that's Rottach-Egern as seen from above:

The Riedenstein has the most adorable little chapel to watch the view from:

And what a view of the Tegernsee it is!

And lastly, the Tegernsee from down there:

Date: 2016-06-02 03:23 pm (UTC)I love that little building -- a house? a viewing station? -- tucked into the corner of that huge outcropping on the Roßstein. I nearly didn't notice it at first.
