Completely trivial observation du jour: at last, Billy has joined the bearded brigade. When exactly did "growing a beard" become a tv marker of "getting more ruthless" (see also: Breaking Bad?) It wasn't back when Riker did it on TNG. :) Also, Max looks great on horseback.

More seriously: can't wait! And then I shall dearly miss this show once it's over, but it feels just right in terms of the story they're telling to have this be the final season. After all, if you pitch your main character versus the British Empire in 1715, then you do limit your options as to how long this can go on without suspension of disbelief snapping entirely.

Meanwhile, checking out the summary of requests and offers for Yuletide so far, I see there are plenty of sign-ups for Black Sails, which augurs well for at least some stories getting written.

What a gorgeous looking show Black Sails is. What a splendid trailer. I admit I had hopes for some canon Billy/Flint, but I'm used to being disappointed. In the meantime, Anne and Rackham rock my world. And Billy's beard is just silly. *g* I may actually grow to like Silver by the end of the series. A lot of development there.

Huh. The trailer plays out normal to me. *scratches head*

Billy/Flint: not my pairing, but I certainly can see where it's coming from in season 1. Post s1, not so much, due to lack of interaction. (Though they still get more than many a slash juggernaut did, see also: Clint/Coulson.) On this show, the likelihood for an m/m present day pairing certainly is far higher than in many another, but I think if it were Flint and Billy, they'd have gotten more relationship build up. (For example: I could see the Thomas reveal mid s2 coming and have written the reviews at the time to prove it, because the s2 flashbacks showed far more of James' interactions with Thomas than they did with Miranda. That was the relationship being built up to.)

Then again: eye of the beholder. Also bias on my part because I favor the Flint and Silver relationship. (Though I don't think they'll have on screen sex, either.) And yes, Silver got terrific character development through the seasons.

If the show kills off Jack Rackham in historical style with Anne being there, I'm going to be devastated. Until it does, though, I'm hoping against hope Max will manage to knock the both of them out during a battle, tie them up and hide them in the cellar until all is over.

Ha, nothing has less interaction than MCU C/C. As I am a big C/C fan, I guess it's no surprise that I can still pin hopes on Billy/Flint.

Silver is the next season looks SOOOO awesome. I like him way more now than I did at the beginning.

I'm hoping against hope that your Max plot development develops. Because I'm going to be a bawling mess otherwise.

It may not have been "getting more ruthless," but Riker getting his beard was immortalized as a trope meaning "show getting better/character getting more badass" - Growing The Beard!
