Sunset, Sunrise

With the news getting steadfastly ghastlier and more grotesque by the minute, I figured I'd share some of my weekend sights. To wit, I visited the highest German mountain, the Zugspitze. Due to some RL business in nearby Garmisch, which is where the winter Olympic Games took place in the 70s. I lucked out with the weather, too, which is why you get some mountain scenery:

And that's the view greeting you when you've reached the top and look at the direction of Austria:

Whereas the German side has nearly no snow at all. You can see two of the big Bavarian lakes, the Starnberger See and the Ammersee, in the distance:

Back to the summit of the Zugspitze itself.

By the the time I went down the mountain, the sun was setting and the moon was rising, hence:


And in conclusion: sunrise over Garmisch. You can see the old Olympic skiing slope with its artificial snow:
