Very tired and exhausted here. Train journey with little children: check. Installing new cordless desktop (Christmas present): check. With the result that now my printer doesn't like me anymore. Or rather, doesn't like my computer. Argh!
Three more
yuletide recs, before I hit the sheets:
"Dedicate His Beauty": Romeo/Mercutio seems to be the Shakespeare pairing of the season. This version has it all - Elizabethan genderbender, an intriguing and fascinating interpretation of the unseen Rosaline of the play, Shakespearean syntax and believable characterisations of the boys.
"Rider". There are several American Gods stories this year as well (yay!), but this one is my favourite. It captures Shadow, the casual tone of his encounter with deities, and uses a bit of Norse mythology in a superb way - what more can one want?
"Like Tears in Rain". Blade Runner. Roy Batty. Who wants to live. Ah, my favourite Sci-Fi movie of all time, and the androids were its noir soul. Beautifully captured here.
