Umbrella Academy:

Please don't take my sunshine away: explores Allison and her response to motherhood. Especially in the light of Reginald's, err, example in parenting.

Due to my Farscape rewatching, I've been in the mood to seek out fanfiction, as long as it's short, since I'm currently overwhelmed with rl duties. Here are some goodies I'd found which I'd like to share, all lovely little vignettes of friends being there for each other:

Forty-Eight Words: this one is set post Peacekeeper Wars, featuring Aeryn, Chiana and John.

The last familiar outpostWhereas this one is early s4, starring John and Chiana. Why yes, I like Chiana a lot.

I dropped out the The Umbrella Academy fairly early on.

Explicit onscreen torture is definitely not my thing.

I had mixed feelings about the first season myself, though I was interested enough to continue, which I was glad about because the second season fixed my major problem with the first. (To wit: for all my fondness for (fictional) dysfunctional families, I need to believe there's a connection and that these people are better of with each other than without, and in s1 they didn't really sell me on this. Otoh, s2 very much sold me on it, so that was fixed. Re: Torture, I can deal if the narrative doesn't try to make it less than horrible or even tries to excuse it in a "a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!" manner. But mileage will vary, obviously.

My biggest no-no is when torture victim always give honest answers, thus supporting a belief that torture can be justified by governments.
