Even Darth Real Life is not able to keep me from my annual Easter Well sight seeing, or the pic spam based on it. Happy Easter to all who celebrate, and hopefully good holidays to everyone:

Heiligenstadt gesamt

First of all, some more details from the Heiligenstadt one, because I never cease to marvel about the artistry that goes in to cutting those egs open and placing things in them without destroying the shell altogether.

Ebermannstadt has two Easter Wells, the one in the market square:

Ebermannstadt Brunnen gesamt

And the one dedicated to local Rokoko composer Melchior Freytag, which is my favourite of the two:

Melchior Freytag Brunnen gesamt

Melchior Freytag - Figur und Noteneier Melchior Freytag - Ei

Sometimes the well decorated is a literal old well, like here:

Kirche und Brunnen

And sometimes it's one set even deeper into the Earth, like in Obertrubach:

Obertrubach schräg

The one in Gößweinstein is always pretty:

But my heart beats for those Easter bridges and fountains. The former is in Drosenfeld:

Drosenfeld Brücke

Brunnenkrone Drosenfeld

And has this lovely detail:

Fuchs auf Ei

Incidentally, as you can see from the state of the egg, it's an old one. In case you're wondering whether all those wells are decorated with new eggs in a year where the farmers could export them very expensively to the US. Some new ones are there each year, sure, but two thirds or thereabouts are repeats. Anyway, on to the Aufseß spring:

Aufseßquelle

The largest Easter Well of Franconian Switzerland is, as in every year, the one in Bieberach, of which you will get some details first because this year we evidently had some football - or soccer, for Americans - fans among the egg painters:

1 FCN - Bieberach FC Bayern - Bieberach

Lila Eiblick - Bieberach

And now the total:

Bieberach Gesamt

By far the most original well is the one in Kleingesee. They do a different topic each year. Among the topics of years past were "fairy tales", "beer", "Franconian Switzerland". This year, it's "Farmers and their farms".

Kleingesee gesamt

And the level of detail that goes into this is amazing, which is why you get a lot of these details here:

Küken und Kuh - Kleingesees

Kleingesee Traktorendetail

Kleingesee - Hühnerhase

Kleingesee - Strohtraktor

Bauerhase und Kuh

Kleingesee - Schweinderl Kleingesee - Schaf

There is even an apparatus where kids can learn how to milk a cow:

Kleingesee - Bauerndank - Krone

Kleingesee - Bauernhof in Krone

One last detailed close-up:

Kleingesee - Tiereier

I'm also charmed each year by those river bunnies which are human-sized:

Flußhasen gesamt Quer

Flußhasen längs

And my AP's favourite is Tiefenpölz, not just but also because of the free salted eggs offered there:

Tiefenpölz

Milchkrug Tiefenpölz

Now, just last year in November we found out near this Easter Well in Tiefenpölz, there is something really unexpected for the Franconian countryside. Which we had to visit. I mean:

Tiefenpölz Stonehenge Quer

Tiefenpölz Stonehenge Queer mit Ei

Eierdetail Stonehenge

Tiefenpölz Stonehenge längs

(And no, it's not an authentic stone circle. It's a farmer getting an idea of how to use that bit of his land. But doesn't it look cool?)
