Even Darth Real Life is not able to keep me from my annual Easter Well sight seeing, or the pic spam based on it. Happy Easter to all who celebrate, and hopefully good holidays to everyone:

I had a turbulent last two weeks, especially Easter week, hence the relative scarceness of yours truly online. However, starting with Good Friday, things calmed down, and I was able to visit the Easter Wells we have in Franconian Switzerland again.

For the holidays, I offer a pic spam of our Franconian Easter Wells again, starting with a new one I only discovered this year.

Well, some of them had already been decorated last year, but this year all of them were, and thus I offer my seasonal pic spam as a visual brightener in dark times.

Easterly Franconia awaits you )

...because there were some again this year, though much fewer, and less elaborately done (it takes a large group of people to decorate some of the biggest wells), but still with much love and care, and in some cases wit, so I can share the results, and wish peaceful holidays to everyone celebrating.

To start with Good Friday morning again, when we got up early to watch the sunrise over Bamberg and its castle:

Due to the Corona virus, there are no Easter Wells this year in Franconia. Rather than abandon my annual Easter Wells pic spam, though, I decided on a „Best of“ selection through the years. After all, you might have missed a few through the years.

Happy Easter and Pessach to all who celebrate, and to everyone: I bring beautifully decorated wells, as I do every year. Since the Easter weekend in my hometown was predicted to be a rainy one, I used the sun on Good Friday to do my annual trip through Franconian Switzerland to admire the Easter Wells. This year, they had a distinct fairy tale theme, as you'll see below the cut, but for starters and above cut, enjoy some variations of Puss-in-Boots. The Marquis de Carabas salutes everyone.

Once more, enjoy the holidays, everyone!

...to all who celebrate, and greetings with pictures of beautiful wells for everyone. I'm still with the APs until the holidays are over, and then I'm off to Munich again. Yesterday we followed family tradition and drove through Franconian Switzerland to admire the Easter Wells. Generally this has been a cloudy week in my part of the world, but on Good Friday, the sun shone in Franconia. And behold:

It's your annual pic spam of eggs and wells again, due to yours truly and the APs having made their trip through Franconian Switzerland. We actually discovered a well we hadn't seen before, which was all about beer and shall be hidden beneath the cut. And we revisited some old favourites. The weather, alas, was cloudy and grey, but the colours of the wells shone all the brighter. Happy Easter, everyone! As much as it can be, in these miserable times.

Last week we had an actual hurricane in Germany, and there's still clean up in progress, but yesterday was unexpectedly sunny in Franconia, and thus the APs and yours truly followed (Franconian) tradition and hit the countryside to gaze at our Easter Wells.

The results are below the cut. )

Last year I was in London during the Easter holidays, which meant I couldn't follow one of my favourite Easter traditions, to wit, visiting the beautiful Easter Wells in our Franconian country side. This year, I did so one day early, because rain was broadcast for Good Friday (and sure enough, it's raining now), whereas yesterday it was lovely and sunny. And thus, I can share with you my annual Easter pic spam again - the wells in their multitudes of colours and eggs are there below the cut.

In case I shan't be able to post properly again during the holidays: happy Easter to all who celebrate it!

It's Good Friday, and due to one of my Aged Parents being away, holidaying with a related young one in need of a mentor, I and my other Aged Parent made the annual trip to visit the Easter Wells in Franconian Switzerland earlier than usual, which means you get my annual pic spam earlier as well. Also the weather after a sunny March decided to become absolutely frightful, and it's supposed to snow tomorrow, so we figured to visit the lovely wells with their self painted eggs as long as going was good. We also attended the early morning passion walk, which was a first for me (and having been to Jerusalem, I can assure you the hills of my hometown are just as tough; especially at 5 am at 2° Centigrade). The man carrying the cross up and down no less than three Bamberg hills must have trained the whole year for that one. But while the sun didn't shine, dawn over a sleeping city and three thousand or so people marching carried awe with it.

Today we made our annual trip through Franconian Switzerland to admire the Easter wells, and like every year, I have a pic spam of the gorgeous, gorgeous results. We were especially lucky, because not only was the weather great, but in one town there was dancing next to the well. By children. In dirndl. And thus my above cut picture to wish everyone who celebrates happy Easter and induce you to check out the rest of the pic spam featuring hand-painted eggs, lots of wells and cute kids, is this one:

If you're familiar with my ramblings, you know the Aged Parents and self always make a trip through the Franconian countryside around Easter, because we Franconians have a unique custom: decorating all the wells, and in some cases also the bridges, with hand-painted eggs and greenery. Even on cloudy days, it makes for a beautiful spectacle, and so I wish you a happy Easter weekend with the following pictures from Franconia:

Like every year, we observed our family tradition during the Easter holidays and visited the Franconian villages, where wells during Easter time are decorated with mostly hand painted eggs and with plants. It looks very pretty indeed, and always inspires my Aged Parents to take pictures. So naturally, as in the last years, I want to share the prettiness.

Happy Easter! )

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates it. We followed family tradition and visited our Franconian Easter Wells again, which are extremely pretty, despite the fact the winter came back with a vengeance and so there is snow on the painted eggs. But have a look, even if you don't care for the holiday at all, I promise prettiness!

Annual Easter Wells Pic Spam ahoi! )

Like every year, the APs and self drove through Franconia, our home province, to look at the pretty Easter Wells, which are our local specialty. Here are some of this year's highlights:

Nowhere else in the world... )

Not that I'm in the slightest bit envious inhabitants of a certain island get to watch new Dr. Who episodes tonight. No, not me. However, being in Franconia, I got to watch Easter Wells, as every year, which isn't half bad, either. What are Easter Wells? Have a look. Icon makers, if any of these tickle your fancy for an Easter icon, feel free. Eggs, Water, Beauty )
