As the Multiverse stories, or rather their authors, are revealed now, I can 'fess up: I wrote "Pretty in Pink", a Firefly/Babylon 5 crossover, and "Coming in from the Cold", a Deep Space Nine/ Babylon 5 crossover. Of the two, "Pretty in Pink" was more troublesome to me, because Inara and Vir are so nice, polite and sensible characters, and I'm doing better if at least one of the people I'm writing about is a bastard. So imagine my delight when getting the second assignment, because that one asked for Garak and Bester. Which just had to be written.

As for the other Multiverse stories, my guesses about the authors turned out to be right - I figured [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2 for "Travel Light" (great Dr.Who/Farscape with Stark as a prominent character) and [livejournal.com profile] kangeiko for "Take care of yourself for me" - the lyrical style and the Briar Rose reference gave it away. (I also had an inkling Andraste might have written mine, but wasn't completely sure about that one.)

Babylon 5-wise: [livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile started her DraconCon report, and has a great theory why the Minbari and the Centauri don't appear to have an equivalent of the Psi Corps. Read and discuss, people! It makes perfect sense to me.

Yeah, my stories tend to be incredibly obvious. Of course, the fact that I tend to bitch about them in my LJ a lot probably helps identify them, too. :)

Aw, but we love you for it. Also, as I said back when this was anonymous, it's a wonderful, wonderful story.

Hah! I was right! *does a smug little dance of glee*

(I spotted "Coming in from the Cold" as yours :) Initially I saw a characteristic bit of language and thought, ooh, Selena, and then thought about the subject matter / characters, and was all, oh well, of course. It was a good story; I really enjoyed that one, and the Garak voice was great!)

I didn't spot the other story, though. I vaguely thought [livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile... except clearly the story was her request! But it makes sense that it was someone who knows her well :) Again, sweet, and funny. And Vir always deserves more love! Yay Vir!

Well, as I said, Garak & Bester just called out to me.*g* The only question really was whose pov it should be, and in whose universe it should be set.

Vir does deserve some comfort after all the hurt, quite. And I figured Inara would take the tentacles in a stride...

You may spank me for not sending feedback before now, but I read "Pretty in Pink" during D*C and had a distinct feeling you were the author, first because of the use of brachiarte, which identified the mystery writer as one of our circle; and second- and most importantly- because said writer's interpretation of Vir strongly resembled my own, which could only have occured if the writer in question had been exposed, deeply and intimately, to my Vir voice- say, perhaps, in an RPG setting- for a number of years. ;)

So, yes, I said to myself after finishing the story, "Ah, [livejournal.com profile] selenak, that was lovely!" I particularly liked how you paid attention to the radical differences between Vir's universe and Inara's. And you chose the right timeframe for Vir. If there is ever a time he needs a sweet reprieve, it's immediately after the war.

They may not be bastards, but the story is wonderful regardless. *g*

Vir always needs a hug, but especially then. I was thinking of our RPG when writing it, too, that's why I wanted to do something different and chose not to just have Londo hire Inara for Vir, as we did then. Plus it gave me the opportunity to let Inara do some "why I like being a Companion" soul searching.*g*

I love your Jake Sisko story. The relationship between the Siskos, all three generations, was one of the best parts about DS9 for me.

Same here. It's a rare tv lead who not only gets along with his son but with his father as well. And as a minor issue, Jake becoming a writer (as opposed to going into Starfleet) and Joseph being a restaurant owner (as opposed to being in Starfleet) were all presented as equally valid occupations, not sources of conflict. I love a show who acknowledges the civilian side of things.

The more I talk and read about DS9, the more I appreciate what a great show it is. It's the only Trek that I really do want to get on DVD. It shows how good the Trek universe can be with writers who aren't afraid to make things less black and white, and paint in the shades of grey.
Not surprised that the best writer is now doing my other favourite show, Battlestar Galactica.

I loved your Bester/Garak story, and you're right that it's a pairing that had to be written. They understand each other so well, on so many levels.

I have yet to read 'Pretty in Pink', but 'Coming in from the Cold' just blew me away. Fabulous Garak, fabulous Bester, wonderful Nog, and the deal makes perfect sense. My God, woman, you kill me. *stares*

You're the first one to mention Nog as well, and see me dance the dance of Ferengi adoration here.

And thank you. These two were a blast to write.
