In lieu of new canon, I console myself with fanfiction. "Mr. Niska and the Ancient Art of Marriage Counselling" is a fabulous, long, plotty Firefly fanfic by

roseveare, focusing on Mal and my favourite con artist in the Firefly universe, Saffron. (I also got to see a revue in Berlin at the Friedrichstadtpalast, Casanova, which didn't have to hide next to the ones I saw in Paris.)
