Top Ten Signs You're Reading A Selena Fanfiction

1) Lots of dialogue or interior monologue, little plot, though there are a very few exceptions.

2) Sometimes, there are confusions as to the position of the " and the , - this is because of German-English spelling system differences.

3) Usually the main character isn't a fandom favourite.

4) If the story has an actual pairing or UST, the characters getting paired are middle aged.

5) If on the other hand it stars a Pretty Young Thing*, it's usually gen and deals with anything but sex.

6) You could come to odd conclusions what the show was about based on my fanfic, for example:
a) Alias = The Arvin Sloane Story
b) Angel = The One About Darla And Her Son
c) Babylon 5 = Aka The Ambassadors, starring Londo Mollari, G'Kar, Londo's Aide And Centauri Prime, With A Subplot About A Telepath Named Bester ....
(Buffy and Star Wars are exception, as what few stories I wrote actually tend to focus on Buffy and that Anakin/Vader guy (even if he's not actually in the story)...)

7) What is this thing called a happy ending?

8) Mindmessing rules! This author must adore manipulative characters.

9) Family relationships are twisted and interesting that way. Even if it's not blood family at all.

10) Either [livejournal.com profile] honorh, [livejournal.com profile] kathyh or [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite appear somewhere in the credits as thanked beta-readers and/or
inspiration. (If this is a Centauri story, substitute [livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile.)
