On the road again, and wow, tonight's hotel room even has its own huge balcony. As it's sunny and pleasant, I'll use it before I move on.

In other news, I posted my Sloane essay which was due (will add another paragraph once the season is over, though) at [livejournal.com profile] operation_alias:

A Man of all Seasons

(I was feeling blasphemous. Though you know, they were both men of faith!) And I must be positively the last person in the Who watching universe, but it only just occured to me: K-9. Canine. Duh!

Also, I watched the delightful Girl in the Fireplace and the, err, not so good Old School Resurrection of the Daleks ([livejournal.com profile] londonkds, I see what you mean about Eric Saward) and will report tomorrow when I have more time. Today's train journey was spent on the Sloane essay and wondering what on earth I'll present my mother with for mother's day next Sunday. In other news, given that many a recent post either deals with Alias or new and old Dr. Who, I probably will end up writing a crossover where someone - looks pointedly at direction of speculation uttered before in these very pages - nicks the TARDIS.

But most of us would have no clue as to how to translate 'canine' into German.

The pun doesn't work in German anyway. I consol myself with the fact I can bitch about RTD's bad German geography and Moffat's worse German (Bad Wolf doesn't translate as Schlechter Wolf, it should have been Böser Wolf) instead.*g*

They may well have both been RTD's errors, as I think Moffat said in the commentary that his episodes lacked any 'Bad Wolf' reference.

Well, someone named that thing in Empty Child/The Doctor Dances "Schlechter Wolf", which is schlechtes Deutsch...

Oh, man, and now I'm trying to picture Rifkin as Thomas More. (Or maybe as Lear?) I keep saying I'm going to read everybody's nifty essays when I get the (overdue) Zarek one done. Hasn't done much for me so far but then -- break starts in earnest this afternoon, so there's hope.

He'd be great in either role.*g* Good luck with the capricious Zarek muse!

I think you were really onto something last week what you said about The Doctor/Sarah Jane paralleling Peter Pan/Old Wendy. It was interesting how Girl in the Fireplace played with the same theme, with a slightly different twist.
