Beta Reader Appreciation Day
Oct. 14th, 2006 07:32 pmIn no particular order, those generous ladies who've helped me over the years:
kathyh, who isn't just my oldest internet friend but has always been there for me, beta-wise, even drafting her husband when technical advice was needed, my other K.H.,
honorh, like Kathy there from the Highlander days onwards and the one who taught me that in English, you put " after the , - ;
penknife and
artaxastra, who aren't just fantastic authors but ready to beta essays about characters from fandoms they're unfamiliar with;
likeadeuce whose only fault is that she stopped playing in
theatrical_muse;
andrastewhite (it's been a while since I seduced her into another fandom; I feel old!),
monanotlisa (admit you're a sci-fi fan already!) and
hobsonphile, who aside from inspiring a lot of my B5 stuff beta'd a multiverse story without hesitation;
kangeiko, who is both a sharp beta and a source of inspiration; and Kate who came through for the lengthy Connor essay in a wonderful way.

Date: 2006-10-14 11:22 pm (UTC)I was recently getting nostalgic for TM, and it occurred to me that dropping completely out of RP mostly coincided with coming into Marvel fandom. I was thinking -- "I miss those crazy insane plots we used to come up with in TM. Where do I get that fix now? Oh yes. With Marvel, it is canon."
And you totally pimped me into that fandom too (though I probably would have picked up AXM after X3 ,anyway, if I hadn't already).
Speaking of drawing people into fandoms -- I have a RL friend who is obsessing over Alias, and is reading a lot of fic at websites, but i can't convince her she needs to get an LJ. Any comms, meta, LJ-based fics, or people I could refer her to to convince her? She is particuarly obsessed with Jack, Jack/Irina, and Weiss (and, though she's only on season 3, is basically spoiled for everything -- being one of those people I don't understand who reads summaries before watching the episodes!)
