This is definitely the year of blockbuster movies where you think: they did intend that threesome to be canon, right?

Anterograde is a movieverse Spider-man story, Harry/Peter/MJ, and well, yes. Exactly. I couldn't imagine a scenario in the earlier two movies where that would work, but here? Perfect.

Moving over to ye pirates, [livejournal.com profile] butterfly has great Elizabeth/Will/Jack meta, on all three characters, their journeys and their entwined lives. Incidentally, I think the reason why these particular three would now work for me as a threesome when they wouldn't before is that before, I had trouble seeing Will as the equal of the other two. Which At World's End changed, along with changing the nature of his relationships with both Elizabeth and Jack, and thus it works. I'm looking forward to reading the fictional results. (Though not as much as I look forward to reading [livejournal.com profile] bwinter writing Elizabeth and Calypso. And meta on Calypso. I really, really love the new mythology!)

All the Way Home is a great series of glimpses at Elizabeth (and Barbossa, and Jack) during the next ten years.

Meanwhile, in Heroes country: one of the benefits of fanfic is that it allows us to explore characters and relationships that were only sketched in the primary text.

Cockroaches is a fascinating look at Eden. Her interactions with the Sureshs, father and son, and with Mr. Bennet, but most of all at Eden herself, and what a power such as hers did and didn't do to and for her.

There is a "first kiss" meme making the rounds, which I won't participate in, thus robbing all of you of the chance to dare me to write that John Locke/Danielle Rousseau smooch I still hope will happen one day on the show (what?); I'm just happy with reading other people's hard work. [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63 wrote Peter/Niki from the Five Years Gone 'verse, and it's quiet and heartbreaking and so true; she also wrote Nathan/Heidi in the Heroes verse proper, and, because I couldn't resist asking, an Alias crossover: Jack Bristow/Angela Petrelli . This being Yahtzee, they are all superb. Go read!

Thank you for the rec to "Cockroaches." *runs off to read*

I'm so glad [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63 wrote some Heroes fic. I want more! The only fic I've found so far that I really *love* is by you, [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63, and [livejournal.com profile] hackthis: I want more, but I'm not really sure where to start looking. There should be a lot of good stuff coming out over the summer, though.

Heroes fanfic recs: You probably know all of these already, but just in case:

Your Young Man Shall See Visions (http://www.linaerys.com/fic/heroes/visions.php) by [livejournal.com profile] linearys is my all time favourite Heroes fanfiction. Simply superb Peter and Nathan characterisation.

The Perfect Moment (http://yma2.livejournal.com/108288.html) by [livejournal.com profile] yma is a heartbreaking Hiro/Charlie story.

Things learned on a road trip (http://trollprincess.livejournal.com/1253648.html) by [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess is a great ensemble portrait.

Fifty Sentences on Peter Petrelli (http://be-a-rebel.livejournal.com/86041.html) by [livejournal.com profile] be_a_rebel - character portrait, should appeal to you.

Wonderful story about Hiro and Nathan, co-starring Ando and Peter (http://sparky77.livejournal.com/431916.html) by [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 who is one of my favourite writers in the fandom, too.

For another example of her work, check out:

Icarus is just that boy I know (http://community.livejournal.com/flyingpetrellis/29531.html) (Nathan and Peter, great use of the Icarus and Daedalus myth)

Finally, if you want something entirely subtext free (which is hard to find when we're talking Petrellis, try this:

Story Hour (http://origamifrog23.livejournal.com/4368.html) , which has a four years old Peter and a snotty teenage Nathan and is adorable.

P.S. the Hiro 'n Nathan story by [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 has a rather lengthy title, which is why I just linked it via description.*g*

That's not EVERY year? Hmm, maybe that's just the way my brain is wired. I blame [livejournal.com profile] quicknow and her Butch/Sundance/Etta obsession. That's the ticket.

I keep intending to catch up on 'heroes,' since NBC has all the eps at their website!

I sent them to you earlier last week!

And hey, Butch/Sundance/Etta was several decades ago...

Oooh, that is very awesome, I will be on the lookout.

Thanks!

And, yes, exactly, this dynamic HAS been aroudn for decades. Recent movies just seem to be amping it up!
