My Multiverse story finally appears to be going places. Unfortunately, I'm not sure about wanting to go to the place where it's going. *g*

General:

Fandom and female characters: this has been said before, but none put it so well as [livejournal.com profile] penknife. Yes. Exactly that.

Dr. Who
Excellent analysis of the interaction between the Doctor and Jack , episode by episode.

Harry Potter:

Interview with Daniel Radcliffe, full of Kenneth Branagh (and Gary Oldman, but more Branagh) praise and details such as Evanna (who plays Luna) being a Potter fiend who won an argument with Dan about the Black family tapestry.

Dexter:

Via [livejournal.com profile] the_grynne: Promo pictures of season 2! Now I'm happy and anxious at the same time, because the first season was so good that I'm a little afraid whether the second one will be able to match it.

The [livejournal.com profile] penknife thing appears to be flocked. But I liked the Radcliffe interview and the bit about Evanna knowing her stuff cold. Yay!

Definitely the best Daniel Radcliffe interview I've read. He's really a bright, nice person developing in all sorts of interesting ways.

What they said, re: 's entry.

I'm wondering if they'll use the 2nd book's villain for season 2 of Dexter.

I'm interested to see if this happens, too. I haven't read the books, so I'm not sure how much the show differs from the book canon. I've heard (and am willing to be corrected) that the show way, way bests the text, so the idea of bettering source material really interests me. At least where Dexter is concerned.

Still haven't read the books, due to the universal consensus regarding their quality vis a vis the series. So, in an unspoilery way, would using the book's villain be a good or a bad thing in your opinion?

Well, the second book's plot makes things way too convenient for Dexter, and continues the racist and sexist trends of the first book, which the TV series successfully avoided. If they keep rewriting the plot, then that shouldn't be a problem, or a bad thing. (Especially if they don't give Deb another romantic storyline, since it was in the 2nd book that Deb's romance became a plot element, and it would be repetitive to get her involved because of her lover -- obviously not the same person -- two seasons in a row.)

...except for the fact that the crimes committed by the second book's villain are really, really gross. Worse than the Ice Truck Killer's.

Dexter's family and connection to Rita's kids was the more interesting part of Dearly Devoted Dexter, though.

BTW, do you think there's any chance that [livejournal.com profile] penknife will unlock that entry?
