You've got to love YouTube. Some blessed soul put up excerpts from The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries, in which we can see Diana Rigg being awesome, Peter Davison being an inspector, David Tennant being a suspect and Neil Dudgeon, who plays Diana Rigg's chauffeur, getting naked. (The British acting community: insular or INSULAR? It's adorable.)See for yourself:

I must say, Mr. Dudgeon, nice figure, still. I'm sure everyone enjoyed the view.

Speaking of Doctors past and present: [livejournal.com profile] aralias has bucked the trend and pulled of a story in which: a) Simm!Master angsts and b) the Fifth Doctor tops, truly two rarities in fandom (especially the later; Fivey would win the "bottom of the bottoms" poll in most cases, I believe), in an absolutely credible fashion, and managed to fill a plot hole left by Time Crash. (To wit, if Five is told that a future regeneration has met the Master again, won't the Doctor later know not all the Time Lords can have died and wouldn't that create a paradox?) Behold the delightful:

No longer hearing voices

Still talking DW: in the spirit of universal companion love, make sure to celebrate them in the Companion Appreciation Meme. From Susan to Donna, from Barbara to Evelyn, they're all listed! And while you're in companion mood, check out [livejournal.com profile] futuresoon's adorable fan art featuring Jo and Ten.

I don't think that's Davison naked, is it? He's the *inspector* who turns up at the end of the video, but the naked guy is Rigg's sidekick.

You know, I first read this post when it said Peter Davison got naked in front of David Tennant, and I was very disappointed to discover this was not so. :P Ah well, at least it's proof the two of them met before Doctor Who...

(And I love the idea of a Companion Appreciation Meme! Thus, I have put something up for Jo. Because she is my homegirl. And thank you for reccing the sketch, silly little thing that it is :D )

Everyone met everyone before Doctor Who. (I think Eccleston and Tennant were in Jude together?) But it still amuses me, and I regret the lack of naked Davison as well, which my brain tried to compensate for by a Freudian entry, now fixed.

And you know your sketch is adorable.

...you changed your banner. I mean, I know you love Donna, but more than Sloane? I am shocked at this turn of events. I saw it and thought, oh, what a lovely banner, whose journal is this? And I was shocked!

Possibly I am having this very minor freak-out because it's Friday and my crazy flailing has taken hold of me again.

Which is all to say: DONNA! *CLINGS*

oooh, adorable fan art.

I still love Sloane with an undiminished passion, but feel it is the turn for Ms. Noble now, after two years of Arvin S. and Londo. *g*

Thank you for that delightful Youtube excerpt. I loved the Mrs.Bradley mysteries, and I'd kind of forgotten about them.

[livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite wrote a post about them a few months back, and that's what alerted me to their existence, so I was happy to find that clip!

Hah, you read my mind! I'm watching a documentary about the 60's which had clip from the Avangers and I was just thinking what was the name of that really good detective show with Diana Rigg in it. *g*

I saw all of them first time round, annoyingly there are no British DVDs of them and the US ones are really poor quality.

If I recall correctly there's eventually a shocking revelation about Peter Davidson's character in another episode - I remember that particularly well because I got a "letter of the week" award from the Radio Times for pointing out that the supposedly dangerous snake in that episode (which turned out to be harmless in the end) was actually a N. American corn snake and totally unknown in Britain before the 1950s.

Forgot to say that there's a CD of music from the series, has some nice stuff. VERY useful when I run RPGs set in the period.

I had heard of these, and always tried to find them. Of course, youtube never came to my mind...*shakes head*

And is there really any British actor working in the UK who hasn't worked with all the others by now? Between Harry Potter, Doctor Who and Life on Mars, they have to have met somewhere.

Those are all minor - the one that everyone seems to have been in is The Bill, a cop serial that currently airs twice a week (used to be three times) and has done since 1984. So if you want (for example) a connection between Daniel Radcliffe, Sylvester McCoy and Ron Moody that's where to look.

I adore the Mrs Bradley Mysteries, I wish they'd made more. They popped up on UK TV Drama again a couple of months ago, but I managed to miss this one.

Did you notice one of the script editors? Julie Gardner. Not just the acting community that's insular!
