From the stars, knowledge: this one hides a twisty, twisty story behind a deceptively simple summary: Voyager has a Space Western holodeck program. It would be a crime to give anything away, so let's just say that the characterisations all around are great and you'll end up both disturbed and awed. Another great contribution to the multiverse month.
Meta:
As a champion of the fannish underdog (i.e. those characters and writers often sneered at), I was thoroughly charmed by this defense of Bulwer-Lytton. (My own Victorian novelist of choice to defend is Wilkie Collins, but the one B-L novel I've read - invevitably The Last Days of Pompeii - really didn't contain anything to justify its author being used now as a byword for bad writing.)
