En route back to Munich, I stopped for a day in my hometown Bamberg. It's finally snowing outside, and I so hope that means a white Christmas. My parents have a fireplace, and in some years we just couldn't use it - it wasn't cold enough.

Tomorrow at midnight, in Munich, Return of the King! I'm a gibbering wreck already, I fear.

Other fans, being more sensible, write interesting and insightful posts. In honor of the Firefly DVDs which you lucky Americans can watch and I can't, [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r wrote a great review, here. Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] londonkds analyses Jayne here and makes me wish he'd write something like this for each of the Firefly regulars.

Something I've been waiting for ever since I finally saw Destiny: fanfiction inspired by it. [livejournal.com profile] cbrownjc put my out of my fannish misery and wrote some fabulous drabbles. The other thing I've been waiting for was Lineage-inspired Wesley fanfic. [livejournal.com profile] cadesama takes a look at Wesley's childhood here.

I love the idea of a white Christmas, but this year it would be so amazingly inconvenient that I'm actively hoping we don't have one, which means that we will *g*.

Gibbering right along with you about ROTK. The suspense and the anticipation is all part of the fun though.

Oh, of course it is. And once we're through the experience, we'll all gibber for the Extended Version.*g*

And then there will be the Special Box Set with Extra Features and then the Extra-Special Extended Version and then the holographically-remastered version and then... Sadly, I shall be gibbering for the lot of them.

If you need some distraction from the gibbering go and read [livejournal.com profile] firesignwriter's latest Jack/Norrington in jail WIP. It's a cracker.

Return of the King! You lucky ducky! I won't get to see it until the day after Christmas, assuming my mother-in-law will babysit! I think my daughter is too young for Return of the King, though she does cheer Wolverine whenever she catches a few minutes of X Men here and there. She throws her arms over her head and yells "Yay!" whenever she sees Wolverine. So maybe she'd like Aragorn?

*Oh please have done my favorite scene right!*

Aragorn is more the Cyclops type, if you ask me

He's responsible, after all. And into long-term engagements.*g* And faithful. Plus good with looking after hobbits and Old Wizards.

If I had to I'd equate Wolverine with either Gimli or Boromir, only neither really fits...

How old is your daughter?
From: [identity profile] artaxastra.livejournal.com
True. Aragorn is A Good Guy, which Wolverine isn't.

She's 19 months old. A little squiggle, but very certain of what she likes and doesn't.

Good Things:
chocolate
snakes
riding in a taxi
Wolverine
clean laundry
fuzzy acrylic blankets
tacos
shoes
the firestation across the road
other babies

Bad Things:
naps
grapefruit
socks
big birds
forks
grass

There will be more when I have time

I'm curious, therefore I inquire.

Are region-free DVD players not available in Germany? I don't have the techno-geek babble to clearly state exactly what I'm talking about, but I know that I could buy here in America a DVD player that doesn't 'care' what region the DVD is coded for, or I could have my DVD player on my computer altered to bypass this restriction.

(I've had to think about this in case the BBC releases B7 on DVD only in England.)

oh, they are there...

...they're also incredibly expensive. Hence my unwillingness to buy one when I have a perfectly functioning one for my region already and usually it's just a few months difference between the DVD releases.

Now if they reduce the price somewhat, I'll probably reconsider...

You're going at midnight? Wow. I probably could here in L. A., (Mann's Chinese is going to do a midnight showing tommrow, I know), but I just know it's going to be hellishly crazy, with wall to wall fans.

I am going Wednesday morning though. I'm so pathetic about ROTK that I've already started getting teary over it. :)

P.S. Thanks for the fic shout out. *blush.* :)

well, I've never been...

...to a midnight premiere before. And I thought: what better film to try?

And you're welcome.
