What now? (No relation to recent House episode.) For real? No longer just wishful thinking?
NBC has picked up Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn buddy show, to be written by JJ Abrams .
Clearly, JJ loves me. I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say "certain events concerning my favourite character and his relations in s5 of Alias are forgiven", but - no, kidding, I'm all aglow in fannish happiness. Yes, it won't be a Ben and Locke High Spin-off, but one of the links in the article leads me to a description of this being intended being about two former black operatives, and also "a dark comedy" and "a buddy show", and it has the best actors from Lost who have amazing chemistry with each other. This is enough to make me sing to the clouds and scare my neighbours.
Speaking of singing, below the cuts are some vids of that make me also feel fuzzy for different reasons, featuring those Liverpool guys.
First two brief ones from Beatlemania days. In which an attempt at announcing a song is made, and a pillow is thrown. :)
Secondly, someone put up vid collecting various goofy moments over seven years. The John interview by a Swedish reporter about his book (In His Own Write) would be worth it alone, but what strikes me most is what begins the vid, because it's actually an outtake from the Let it Be sessions... in which Ringo and Paul ("goooood morning, Richie" - Richard Starkey is Ringo's real name, for layfolk) enjoy themselves. On the piano. Must have skipped that one when working my way though Sulpy's transcriptions, or else the joy of the moment just didn't translate.
Lastly, two unused takes later sampled in Anthology of two 1968 songs. The songs themselves are great anyway, but 1968 being the year where everything started to fall apart, these studio takes are also precious because they feature friendly banter between John and Paul.
Here's Julia - John hardly sings on this take, either because he was too much focused on getting the tricky guitar playing right, or because he had an attack of lyrics forgetfullness again (that frequently happened, with his own songs as much as with others). Either way, the melody is there, and at the end you can hear Paul from the control room, and the following dialogue ensues (just in case your sound system is wonky like mine today):
[bad note, John laughs]
Paul: (undistinguishable)
John: It was, till then.
Paul: ...try it again. There were one or two little discrepancies
John: There was just the one, wasn't there?
Paul: No. It was great, really great, let me tell you...
John: Couldn't - couldn't I go from there you know, d'you?
Paul: Yes .....
John: No. [laughs]
Paul: You're doing great!
John: Cause that one was perfect, wasn't it? (laughs)
Next there's an alternate Hey Jude. With an interesting variation in the lyrics, btw - "she has found you, now go and get her" instead of "you have found her, now go and get her". Starts with the two goofing around again. Also, the child shown with Paul in the photos at the start and at the end is Julian Lennon who originally inspired the song.
