I've been wondering myself these last few days. Sleep? What is this? Not something available during the Carnival in Rio. Not that I miss it; there are too many great alternatives.
This isn't a travel report. I didn't take my trusty laptop with me, not wanting to tempt fate, but I did make lots of hand-written notes which shall be transformed into a readable travelogue once I'm back in Germany. However, since I'll leave Rio tomorrow and doubt whether I'll have the opportunity to access the internet in either Bahia or on the Amazonas, I wanted to let interested parties know I'm still alive, and announce future comments on the following highlights:
- Going to the Ball at the Cocapabana Palace: security, drag queens and Bill Gates, oh, my
- watching the Samba School parades at the Sambadrome: or, why I am now prepared to describe (ancient) Roman triumphs so much better
- marching in the Samba School parades: or, how to dance the Samba in front of thousands of people when your luck with the weather finally broke, it pours cats and dogs on you and the feathers of your costume make you look like a very wet bird when you are supposed to be a traffic light.....
....and much, much more.
Lastly: learned through an email I had to opportunity to read that
citizengkar has entered the building. Which meant that my Londo muse ignored the line for the computer at the local business center and told me to write a short entry. Hence today's icon. Squee!

Date: 2004-02-24 10:31 am (UTC)I have this vision of the Witness Protection Program, and/or top-secret spy endeavors, either of which necessitate dancing as fast as you can!
Anyway, hurry home so we can get the skinny. Sounds like you're having a, er, okay, pun intended, ball.

Wet bird

Date: 2004-02-24 03:23 pm (UTC)And how long have you thought this about yourself *g*.
Good thing you didn't go as a Centauri. Think what the rain would have done to the hair.
Seriously, it sounds great. Looking forward to the full report.
As a matter of fact...
Date: 2004-02-29 08:14 am (UTC)It was my only way of joining a parade. But I was a very stylish jaguar at the ball.
Right now, I'm a sun-burnt tourist at the Amazonas...
