Fannish5: Characters likely to read or write fanfiction

5 characters you feel are most likely to read or write fanfiction. (That don't already do so in canon)


1.) Andrew Wells from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Technically we don't see him do this, so I suppose he qualifies for the "doesn't already do so in canon" condition, but much of Storyteller is basically Andrew writing Trio and Scoobies fanfiction, so. (Not to mention his later "Faith versus a Vulcan" Star Trek crossover...)

2.) Marshall from Alias. He clearly specializes in Star Wars fanfction centered around Princess Leia when it comes to writing, but reading-wise branches out to Daniel Craig era Bond fiction. His biggest claim to fame is the New Hope AU where Leia pretends to change sides and brings down the Empire by being a double agent in whom Grand Moff Tarkin developes a mostly avuncular interest, while Vader figures out he's her father a bit sooner...

3.) Grace Florrick (Alicia's daughter from The Good Wife). Started with West Wing Josh/Donna fanfiction then soured on that and is currently scribbling Laura Roslin centric BSG stories and involved in a shipper war between Laura/Bill and Laura/Lee shippers.

4.) Toshiko Sato (Torchwood). A big Blake's 7 fan and into reading and writing Avon/Cally, poor girl. And Orbit fixits, though strangely enough no PGPs.

5.) Luke Smith (The Sarah Jane Adventures). Look, he had to get his romantic education somewhere. Clyde did have the talk with him, but it was after Maria left and when they were still getting adjusted to Rani that he discovered Harry Potter fanfiction, which turned out to be addictive. Even at Oxford, he still keeps his rec page updated and going. He suspects one of the authors (a Snape/Sirius shipper, to precise) to be Mr. Smith under an alias but can't prove it. It's the fact Sirius spends most of those stories in dog form and sometimes says "affirmative" that makes Luke suspicious.

Oh, Owen WISHES he were as cool as Avon. And so does Tosh,probably.

Naturally. But that's one of the purposes of fanfiction - wish fulfillment.

I bet Marshall's fanfic is really fun and wish I could read it, while Tosh's would be sad but good. On the other hand, I suspect Andrew's Garak/Bashir would leave me facepalming a lot ...

This is terrifyingly plausible.

Andrew's Garak/Bashir would employ all the clichés you can think of; Julian behaves like a Victorian heroine and a wide-eyed lamb, Garak has acquired some extra muscles in addition to the "sinewy grace" that Andrew uses at least three times to describe him, and the worlds "mine!" are flung around a lot. :)

I'm glad you agree on my theory of Mr. Smith's secret Snape/Sirius'shipping vice.

Assuming she sours on J/D because of the stuff with her parents? (Or did she have some crush on Eli that I've missed due to only casually watching?)

Yes, because of the parents, though I would also buy Grace having a crush on Eli and then getting disillusioned when he pulls the "now we must impress the white suburbs and you must not date black people" stunt. But she's a teenage girl with ideals and currently interested in religion, and that added to her parents do not work out means she's gone from West Wing to BSG. And probably reads dark!fic. :)

Logical. I bet she's /waaaangsty/. Of course, I never particularly saw the appeal of Laura/Bill. (Baltar/Caprica all the way.)

Well, me too, on both counts, but I'm not Grace. :)
