The weight loss is progressing nicely, and since the last two days were lovely, we enjoyed some lengthy hiking through the Rhön (not to be confused with the French river Rhone) valleys and through the woods. At some point, I'll post the photos. Meanwhile, shaky internet connections and a busy schedule just allow another fanfic rec, an X-Men one:

From the Desert to the Well : They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Charles never quite knew what that meant, until now. Not only is this an excellent take on Charles, but also on Raven, Moira (! she's somewhat neglected in X-Men fic) and Erik.

Aw, I sympathize with the weight-loss effort, as I'm currently engaged in a similar effort of my own - though doing so at my home base rather than at a hotel. The thought of taking a vacation in order to lose weight sounds somewhat masochistic to me, to be honest, as I definitely would not want to be watching my food intake while on holiday; I'm against that on principle! :) But, whatever works for you.

Thanks for the rec. *beams* I'm really enjoying dipping my toes into this fandom, even if I feel like such a youngling in doing so - but it's great to join in the squee even without much previous knowledge of canon. It's a first, for me, participating in a fandom when it's still so very alive and kicking; usually I'm months, years or even decades behind in watching a show and/or movie. Makes for a nice change. :)

If it were holidays abroad, I'd concurr, but this is a hotel an hour away from my hometown and the cook here is fantastic; you're not fantasizing about missed food because the one he prepares (according the the diet plan) is so good and delicious that it fills your needs perfectly; otoh the hotel is in the middle of hte countryside so you can do a lot of hiking through the beautiful scenery in addition to the gymnastics and training they put you on anyway. Also my mother hasn't had a vacation where she just could relax since three years ago (holidays with Dad & self usually means a lot of sightseeing since this is what we're interested in), which is another reason (in addition to the weightloss wish) why I agreed when she asked me to go with her on this one.
