Preparations: all finished
Sep. 6th, 2011 04:46 pmYesterday would have been the 65th birthday of Freddie Mercury, aka Farrokh Bulsara from Sansibar. Google did a really cool version of its logo in his honour, and in case you missed it, here it is. I never saw Queen live, but of course I'm just the right age to have grown up with those tunes (plus, you know, Highlander fan). Having to update my will before the the flight tomorrow put me into something of a morbid mood for a while, so I contemplated embedding Who wants to live forever? (live version, and good lord but that man could sing!), but then again, I kind of do, so under the cut you'll find something different: an early version of Barcelona, Mercury's duet with Montserrat Cabelle. Because it's beautiful, and because it evokes (among other things) the longing to travel for me, which is what drives me across the Atlantic tomorrow. (Well that, and the conference.) (Incidentally, if you have Fernweh as well, check out
bimo's beautiful pic spam of the Hebrides!) Also under the cut, just in case I do crash: yours truly at the Aged Parent's birthday party last Friday, demonstrating the (by now) twelve lost kilos in a black dress. Write to you soon (I hope)!
