Erfurt even in the times of the old GDR was one of the prettiest German cities. Every time I visit, which is every two or three years, I try to take a stroll, and this mornings' was especially satisfying. And you know what this means: a pic spam!
What Erfurt boasts of are the exceedingly well preserved Renaissance and medieval houses gracing the streets:

See what I mean?

Then there are the churches. This is one of the birthplaces of Protestantism, what with Luther becoming an Augustinian monk in one of the local monasteries. The monastery in question is also part of the university:

The monasteries Luther wasn't a monk in didn't all survive the reformation, of course.

And then there is the cathedral, handily next to St. Severi:

The square in front of it currently doubles as a Christmas market, hence the wheel. I loved the statues in front of the grand portal:

and this is the look from the cathedral down to the square:

And the bridges. Always, the bridges.

In case you want to look this particular bridge up, it's the Krämerbrücke.

Then alleys aren't half bad, either.

And the squares. This, bemusingly, is called the fish square.
