Dragons of the Mind: a magnificent, lengthy, plotty story in which an adult Ace meets the Eleventh Doctor. Uses both Old and New Who canon beautifully (and should be accessible even for New Whovians without classic canon knowledge because Ace's personality and history come across very vividly here. If otoh you already know and love Ace, then seeing what she did with her life (building on the hints from the SJA episode) and how she confronts the story's peril will be a delight from start to finish. An angsty one, because it wouldn't be an Ace and Doctor story if it didn't involve manipulation on a massive scale (though I hasten to add, the Doctor isn't the only one doing the manipulating). Also? Ace has an alien wife. Of course she does.
