A beautiful vid tribute for Caroline John, aka Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, the Third Doctor's first Companion, who died earlier this month. If you have never watched a single episode with her in it, watch the vid anyway, it gives a good impression on why Liz Shaw was awesome (and also why she gets shipped with the Brig). Following so soon after the deaths of Nicholas Courtney and Elisabeth Sladen, it means Katy Manning is the only one left from the Three era and makes me afraid for her, absurd as that is. Also: I'm glad RTD gave Sarah Jane that speech at the end of Death of the Doctor in which so many Old Who Companions, including the magnificent Liz Shaw, are revealed to be doing splendidly (thus defying both the various gruesome fates inflicted on several in the novels and the idea in parts of New Who fandom that post Doctor life must be miserable, for which admittedly both showrunners have planted some seeds). Caroline John may be taken from us, but Elizabeth Shaw is still out there (on the moon, I hear), doing magnificent things.
