'Twas a very good day today. The installation of my new printer/fax went without a hitch, when I had been dreading it and was convinced I'd do something wrong. So now I, too, shall discover the secret of the toner!

Then I had two beautiful new fanfics to print out with same - Andraste's new Londo/G'Kar story, for one. Which displays her great talent for in-character dialogue at all times (don't you hate it when a story, no matter whether het or slash, suddenly wanders into unintentional AU territory because the characters start to spout endearments which make you wonder where these strangers come from?), and alien sex that's genuinenly alien. Of course it occurs to me that I can't wonder aloud about the HP faction which is into squid pairings anymore these days, what with repeated delight in tentacle sex...

In the fandom centring around my other favourite space station, [livejournal.com profile] sabine101 has written a great, dark and plausible Kira/Dukat. (Is there plausible Kira/Dukat that's not dark? I dimly recall Ariana wrote some rather witty dialogue in the stories posted around season 4, i.e. when the show had Dukat at his most ambiguous, but there was still the requisite angst as well, wasn't there?) Early season 6, and again I was struck by the parallels between Kira around the time of Rocks and Shoals and season 6 Buffy with her self-loathing.

Checking out Neil Gaiman's site due to my recent excursion into Sandman fanfic, I found a notice by the moderator that "The Problem Of Susan, a new short story by Neil about Susan from the Narnia books, is now in stores in the anthology Flights ed by Al Sarrantonio (who also edited 999...)". I'd be interested anyway, but onsidering that [livejournal.com profile] rozk memorably described said story as Narnia/Mary Poppins slash, I'm really very curious - could one of you Americans look this up? (I don't think we get the this anthology here until months passed.)

Lastly, the beta'd version of Lost in Translation is up now as well, together with the Sandman crossover.

Edited to add: I'm dying here. Serious warning about spilled tea when drinking while reading the following: Hogwarts Story. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, filked to the tunes of Westside Story. Choice examples of the genius at work here:

The Jet, err, Death Eater Song:
When you eat death, you eat death all the way
From your first crucio to your final AK

Or House of Black, aka America:

SIRIUS:
I hate to be in the House of Black.
It's so gloomy in the House of Black.
Got no roomie in the House of Black.

REMUS :
What about me in the House of Black?

GEORGE & FRED:
Here you are safe from the Dark Lord.

SIRIUS :
Safe to do nothing but be bored.

Hurry and read it at once!

So now I, too, shall discover the secret of the toner!

But the true secret of toner is how not to be the person that changes it in an office that shares a photocopier/printer. This involves the use of various weapons such as deafness, amnesia and temporary inability to read. No matter how faint and illegible the copies get never obey the message that says "Toner needs changing". Crack and change the toner once and you have a job for life.

I think I need to go and read Hogwarts Story because the extracts look hilarious.

Ah, then I am doomed, being the only one in my little apartment. The curse of a single life, I assume.

And yes, read it. I'm still chortling a day after...
