As mentioned, I was on the road this last week, in Northern Germany, where the weather was mostly bad, but every now and then the sun came out to glorious effect. And I had my camera with me. (The new one, made necessary by the Mongolian encounter with a desert dune. It's called Khutulun.)
I started on Sunday in Hamburg, where I had been before, which was fortunate since I didn't have the opportunity to visit much of the city. However, I was, for the first time of my life, in the church St. Pauli. If you haven't known before that there was a church St. Pauli at the end of the Reeperbahn the whole thing is named after, I didn't, either. It currently harbours, bad pun inevitable, about 80 refuges who otherwise would be shipped back to Lampedusa in Sicily and/or the countries they fled from.

(The banner says that the refugees won't return to Lampedusa.)

Bet you didn't know a church in Hamburg's most notorious quarter can look that tree-surrounded. Now, here's the view from St. Pauli down to the harbour:

That's the view from the local Hard Rock Café - the Hamburg harbour at night:

One of the ships on the docksk that made Hamburg's fortune:

And a last view of nightly Hamburg:

Then I was in Bad Bederkesa. Which is only a "Bad" because they have the moor there, and consequently can offer moor baths, but it also hosts a beautiful lake, some canals, and a town palace of a long dead countess fond of the French style.

The town as seen from the other side of the lake.

The windmill which is one of the town's marks, close up earlier that day:

And back to the lake as seen from the other side:

You can walk around that lake, which is a lovely 7 km stroll and just the thing if you need to distract yourself from not being able to watch Breaking Bad. Lots of wooden bridges, too.

Stade where I went next, not well known at all but home to a relative of mine, is extraordinarily pretty. Some of many examples illustrating this:

And then I went to Dresden and Pforzheim where the weather was horrid, so no photos from there. Besides, I did present Dresden in sunshine some years back. :) Now, I am with the Aged Parents at our annual family trip around my mother's birthday, which is today. And the sun is back! Further photos await at some point in this very journal. :)
