So, my JMS written Amazing Spiderman collections finally arrived, which kept me happy for the day.

First impressions:
- JMS does love his manipulative mentor figures; does he ever. Thankfully, this one is Kosh and not Lorien (i.e. well-
written)!
- and he grounds the superhero thing in social realness; Peter, as High School teacher, dealing with homeless kids,
drug addicts, and vile assistants
- Aunt May rules
- MJ doesn't exactly come to more life for me here than she did in the movies, but she has an excellent menta scene re: being the love interest (and methinks that whole Lobsterman movie thing, and the fact that the director ordered MJ to wear lingerie in her scenes, as a dig in the direction of Sam Raimi
- that 9/11 story is heartbreaking, all the more so because of hindsight and the fact that "we reject" both kinds of fundamentalists, the Christian and the Muslim ones, didn't come true
- Anansi! Must read American Gods again
- and I know it was awful for poor Peter, but I was rolling on the floor when Shatra, aka Sharon, the evil spider-eating waspwoman, used her ultimate weapon to destroy him - going to the media and dishing invented dirt on Peter's sex life. Now why didn't other supervillains think of that before?

Now I have to find a way to get Jeremiah. And I've still a certain mental image in my mind. [livejournal.com profile] sabine101 and [livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile know whereof I speak, and [livejournal.com profile] kathyh ought to, because she suggested it in the first place...

Uh oh! What have I done now? You're not thinking of doing what I think you might be thinking of doing are you? That would be...interesting *g*.

So are the JMS Spiderman books worth me looking out for?

At the moment, I'm trying to get Sabine to do it for me. She's the real expert, after all.*g*

So are the JMS Spiderman books worth me looking out for?Supreme Power, which is a dark and terrific reimagening of the Superman myth. More on this in tomorrow's entry.

You're reading Supreme? Oboy... haha. Yes, that's probably one of the best 'Superman' books out there since prior to the soft reboot.

I'm enthralled. Will write more on this tomorrow. Say, you're the comics expert - did you write a review before, and if so, could you link?

Never reviewed it. I'm working on an origins of Superman thing that might eventually see the light of day, but Supreme is right up there with Kurt Busiek's Superman: Secret Identity for a 'what if this happened for real?' depiction. Give or take some necessary handwaves.

P.S.

I'm so glad you're reading Spidey! Mouse over my icon to read the keywords. *g* I fully agree with everything you've said here, starting with Aunt May ruling. Have you read all six trades?

As for the Narn Farr, I'm working on a way to work it into the current PLOT, which won't be terribly difficult considering the fact that we've got one big horny stompy Narn trying to figure out which, er, end is up...so, anyway. We'll see what's what.

And in conclusion, hotpants. I'm trying to figure out how to get the capacity to dup VCDs, as I can only burn .mpg or .avi (see: Scrubs) and my free thingy won't convert. I believe I will prevail at this task. So there's a good chance I'll be able to get Jeremiah for you. Stand by.

Quite true! Ezekiel so is Kosh. And yes, I've read all six. Will have to tell the local comic store owner he's supposed to order me the current issues now...

And that's an immensly cheerful thought to start my day with.*g* But really, that way he could assume nobody, especially nobody of Centauri persuasion, would find out...

Hooray! I do, I do. (*Claps hands in Peter-Pannish-fashion.)
