You know, ever since The Day of the Doctor was broadcast, I am checking the usual suspects in the hope someone will make John Hurt icons, especially since his character was so well received but no luck so far. However, what I did find was Matt Smith and David Tennant fanboying John Hurt (and proving they have great timing and chemistry out of character as well):

Aw. They're right re: Hurt, of course, but what cracked me up was the "I think he prefers you" "Why do you think that?" exchange.

Awwwwwwwww. They're so cute together! And the idea of John Hurt getting annoyed by Matt Smith's constant requests for stories cracks me up.

Now the question is, does Matt Smith ask mostly for a) I, Claudius stories, b) Alien stories, or c) Richard Burton (from their shared work in 1984 stories? :)

And in a few decades, you know Matt Smith and David Tenannt are starring in the equivalent of the Five(is) Doctor Reboot, because they so should do a sitcom together.

Good question! I admit that, had I the opportunity myself, I would probably be harassing him for I, Claudius details. But I'm not sure how Matt feels about shirtless Patrick Stewart BBC historical drama. Most people Smith's age probably know Hurt best from Alien, although that might not be as true in Britain.

And in a few decades, you know Matt Smith and David Tenannt are starring in the equivalent of the Five(is) Doctor Reboot, because they so should do a sitcom together.

I can already picture them trying to sneak onto the set of the 75th Anniversary Special. Complete with phone call to Christopher Eccleston impersonator *g*.
