I feel somewhat widowed, lj wise, at the moment, with no sign or sound given by [livejournal.com profile] honorh since she left for Vegas, and [livejournal.com profile] sabine101 being abducted into complete silence by Runpunkun and Mayaan. Poor [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite is waiting and waiting for the last slackers to deliver their [livejournal.com profile] multiverse2004 stories, and [livejournal.com profile] deborah_judge is rushing off to her vacation, which means no voyeuristic participation into a newbie discovering DS9 until the 15th of August. (Or until Rob posts reviews again.) Normally I’d channel this strange feeling of virtual solitude into fanfic, but being still in Bamberg, I’m seriously cut off from both Sci-Fi and Jossverse DVDs for background checks.

So, without further ado, that meme making the rounds. (No, the other one.)

Gacked from everybody:

Part of being on Livejournal.com is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first 'meeting' you.

hmmms I think i first met yas via andrastewhite... I think i saw a comment you made on her journal, but i dont rightly remember...

I think it was via Andraste, yes.

Some time ago, back when you still needed a code to get an LJ, you posted an anonymous comment in my LJ. It totally disagreed with my entry, but in a highly intelligent way. I don't actually have any memory of the subject or even the fandom, I just remember getting my argument blasted to smithereens by this damnably articulate anonymous person, and the mingled admiration and irritation I felt. So I offered you an LJ code, and when you took me up on it, I put you on my list.

Oh, I remember - I think that was about Seeing Red and why Buffy's season 7 attitude towards Spike was still in character. I was thrilled to bits when you offered me a code; not many people one disagrees with are so polite, generous and receptive!

Yeah, that sounds familiar. Constructive criticism really is cool like a cool thing.

[livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile referred me to you, I think, after I friended, as one of the people a newly converted Londo/G'Kar (and B5 in general) fan should get to know.

So, um. Hi! :D

We few, we happy few...*g* Hello there.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com
Your icon is taunting meeee!

Must get round to watching the rest of B5 so I can properly harass people into writing stuff for me muahahaha. (You are SO going to regret knowing me. Heh.)

Would you believe I'm actually a shy and delicate person? (I'm just a bit loopy after a day on the phones with a load of work (and no internet!) waiting for me at home. Grar call center. Hate. Haaaate. Must not channel G'Kar on customers. Must not quote Londo at them either.

Date: 2004-08-05 09:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] selenak.livejournal.com
My dear, I am the person who after ten years of looking in vain for Londo and G'Kar fanfic (let alone Londo/G'Kar) decided to stop complaining and write some myself. Lo and behold, I found comrades in arms, and now the situation has totally turned around. So there is nothing you can threaten me with.*g*

Also: quote away. It will improve the customers to no end.*g*

Date: 2004-08-05 09:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com
I think B5 quoting improves any and all situations. Especially when done at random.

Customer: *bitchbitchwhinge*
Melle: "Yes, but in purple, I am stunning!"
Customer: "..."

Or maybe I should just start answering the phones with "What do you want, you moon-faced assassin of joy?"

A girl can only dream.

And sadly, B5 looks to be one of those fandoms where I can't write, only read. Boo.

You know you're a real B5 fanatic when...

... the away message on your mobile phone actually says: "You have reached the Psi Corps. We know who you are. We know your phone number. We know what you want. Do not leave a message and we will get back to you. The Corps is mother, the Corps is father."

*sigh*

I'm a relatively recent addition to your list, I believe. I was brought here by your hysterical "Guide to Spike War" post, and stayed for thoughtful Buffyverse analysis and recently for DS9 discussions as I started falling for the show myself through SpikeTV reruns.

And I suck because I neglected to send you feedback for your splendid Garak/Bashir Five Things stories. D'oh!

Thank you (feedback can never be too late *g*). Re: DS9 discussions - check out [livejournal.com profile] deborah_judge's most recent posts, she's another one who discovered the show through the reruns!

I had to laugh as I was about to reply to this when heavens opened, the thunder roared, the lightning flashed and I had to turn the computer off. Obviously your virtual solitude was decreed by the heavens *g*.

We met when I sent you feedback on a HL story (Incubus I think it was) many moons ago now.

Obviously.*g* And yes, so we did, and it was Incubus. Those were the days...

I met you via FF.net reading Truth or Dare (http://centauridelegation.homestead.com/truthordare.html) and squeeing all over it like a desperate Londo!G'Kar!Vir!fangirl. *g* We had a brief e-correspondence in which we both bemoaned the lack of Centauri/Narn fic, and then you pointed me to your LJ, where you had posted Knowing Love (centauridelegation.homestead.com/knowinglove.html). I begged for an invite code and [livejournal.com profile] honorh graciously supplied it. And the rest, as they say, is history. *g*

I saw you commenting on someone's journal (I have no idea whose) a while ago and was thrilled by your Servelan icon. (Oh woe the lack of B7 fans in my circle!) Then I discovered you were also a G'Kar/Londo and general B5 fan, a Jossverser, a Farscape person, and in Germany to boot, and I couldn't not have you on my flist. :)

As for B7 fans, if you haven't already, check out [livejournal.com profile] altariel1, [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2, [livejournal.com profile] kathyh, who are all among the faithful and have several more on their friends list...

Missed you!

Heh, I guess I'll now have to post that meme as well ;)

We first met back in 1999 at the Psi_Corps mailinglist, then still located at Onelist, now sadly no longer excisting. I actually still have your reply to my first post there saved on my comp because it was part of an interesting discussion about the definition of the terms blip and rogue.

I guess my problem back then was similiar to yours with Londo&(/)G'Kar fanfic - if no one else has the fic you're looking for, you just have to archive (and write) it yourself *g* Searching for good Bester fic was such a pain in the ass at that time! Well, actually it still is...

You friended my journal - not sure when or why, although I'm guessing it was something I said about BtVS - and eventually I noticed that your journal was neat and interesting and we got chatting. Next thing I know we're writing a musical and you've convinced me to watch B5 *g*.

Oh, and I keep forgetting to say, but Sabine asked me to send you her love and say that she'll be back soon.

I think it was an entry which mentiond both BTVS and Farscape which I had then newly discovered - the later, I mean - and also, I loved Guessing Game and your other fanfic.

Thanks!

As it happens, I was looking through my folders of saved fanfic a while ago and happened across one of your Darla stories, which I must have put there years before I actually met you *g*.

Soon after that you posted a lovely Charles vignette as I recall, and I friended you.
