Here I was, idly scanning the nominations for the Heroes Slash Fanfiction Awards, recognizing a few stories I had read and enjoyed, seeing lots more I haven't read yet, when lo and behold, I spot my own name. This was something as a suprise, given I haven't written any Heroes slash stories (yet?), but as it turns out, some categories were not limited to the slash variety. So, whoever nominated Trioditis both for "Best Claire Characterisation in a Fic" and for "Best Other Female Characterisation in a Fic", and nominated Dreaming for "Best Molly Characterisation in a Fic", thank you! I'm very glad you liked those stories, and nominated them.

Meanwhile, I finished my House marathon (there will be a s4 post once I have the time of writing it), and did what one does when out ofVicodin more episodes to watch: I went on the hunt for fanfic.
Some early results:
What you need: great backstory on Cuddy and Wilson teaming up to get House back to work after the infarction. The voices of all three characters are spot-on, and it captures the transition from what we see in Three Stories to how we find things in the show pilot beautifully.
Sidekick showcases three s4 characters, Kutner, Amber and Thirteen after episode 9. It's great fun, and just like the actual show makes me hope we haven't seen the last of the character whom House didn't hire as I enjoy the hell out of that character, both on screen and in this story. (Sufficiently cryptic for people who haven't watched s4, I hope.)
Relative Distance is a story who picks up on something in Wilson's backstory and uses it in a way that showcases his friendship with House, with Chase very vividly written, too. Quietly touching.
***
A Dexter story I've been meaning to recommend for a while: Water through a rusted pipe: Deb and Dex after the s2 finale, and Deb makes a discovery. Or two. Pulls off the tricky balance of the emotions Dexter does and doesn't feel, and has a great Deb voice and reaction, too.
