The sign-ups for this year's Remix Redux ficathon have been opened! Last year I participated for the first time, and had great fun remixing an Alias story of [livejournal.com profile] kangeiko's, while getting one of my Babylon 5 stories remixed by [livejournal.com profile] leyenn, so, despite a busy springtime ahead, I couldn't resist signing up again. After all, I've discovered and written in an entire new fandom (Heroes) since then, and finally taken the plunge and written in an old one (Doctor Who). Plus the basic principle of this particular ficathon - take someone else's story and re-tell it in a new way, give it another twist - is just too good not to tackle every now and then. Come and sign up, too, oh flist, if you haven't already?

Anf a fanfic rec from a fandom I've never written in and never will, but occasionally enjoy reading very much, Harry Potter:

One of the most fascinating things in Deathly Hallows was the backstory for Dumbledore that was revealed bit for bit, Citizen-Kane-Style, through various perspectives. Not surprisingly, most people focused on the Grindledore (Dumblewald?) aspect in the fanfiction it inspired. Today, I've found a story that takes on Dumbledore's sister Ariana and uses the basic plot of Pan's Labyrinth to tell her story in the sensitive, dark and fantastic way it deserves to be told: The Faun's Labyrinth. The relationships between Ariana and her brothers, Aberforth and Albus, and the new arrival Gellert Grindelwald are all drawn vividly and ring true; it's one of those stories that makes you say "this is part of my fanon now" after reading it.

*hopeful*

Does that mean you're volunteering your stories?

Oh, heck yes. *has already tossed hat in the ring* I even spent all evening getting my website updated so everything would be in order for it. :)

Excellent! I'm so hoping I'll be able to do some Heroes stuff and that someone will pick up one of the - looks - thirty or so Heroes stories I've written since last year to remix...

Just commenting here to let you know who the random person who just friended you was. I always go "wtf" when I notice random people I don't know suddenly showing up on my 'friend of' list. So! Here I am! Basically I know Babylon 5 is an old mostly-dead fandom, and I did watch it originally about 4 years ago, but I never read any fics or got into the fandom at all. Aaand I've been looking at fics on ff.net and googling up stuff trying to find good stuff (especially Londo-centric and Londo/G'kar stuff) so of course I found yours! :D

So basically I friended you because after reading many of your fics and little posts ranting about fandoms I was like "This one is interesting, she is!" so I'm watching you now. Yesss.

Also you seem to be into a few other shows I like, too, of course including Buffy & Angel. Yays!

So there you have it. I'm a stalker. The end. :D

Hi there, and welcome! Re: Londo and Londo/G'Kar, if you're still looking, both [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite and [livejournal.com profile] kangeiko have written either. We Centauriphiles are few, but we do exist! And I'm glad to hear you like my own contributions. Londo is one of my favourite fictional characters of all time, and B5 remains one of my favourite tv shows.

Awesome! Thanks for the recs! I have noticed there aren't a lot of Centauriphiles (...nice word for it. XD) but alas, that tends to be how my interests go. XD Small fandoms but good fanfic! Anyway, shall check those out. ^_^ Thanks.
