Easter Wells

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates it. We followed family tradition and visited our Franconian Easter Wells again, which are extremely pretty, despite the fact the winter came back with a vengeance and so there is snow on the painted eggs. But have a look, even if you don't care for the holiday at all, I promise prettiness!










Every village here in Upper Franconia really comes up with its own variation, and attention to detail pays off:

kskitten lives in Berlin. That makes her as genuinenly Prussian as is possible many decades after Prussia was dissolved, and it's the traditional right of the South German to call everyone who doesn't live in Bavaria a Prussian anyway.*g*

It's the most fantastic thing to be made in 1943 Britain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Life_and_Death_of_Colonel_Blimp). (And in colour!) You made me think of it because the beginning is set in Berlin.
