Given that I actually don't fancy any of the Harry Potter characters that way, I was curious about the result.

Mrs. Lupin

You like a nice, kind guy with a bit of a fierce streak and you don't mind if he comes damaged. Sure, he may take some convincing since his self-esteem's so low, but once you win him over, you know he's yours for life. Unless of course he has an attack of "I'm not good enough" and runs away, but luckily he's also good at making friends who will push him back into line if necessary.

I think Remus' passive-aggressive streak would drive me crazy and instead of him leaving me, I'd leave him, but thanks anyway. One could certainly do worse in that universe.

I also have a vid rec: Not quite the actress, a Carnivale vid around the Dreifuss family. Uses only season 1 material, to devastating effect, if you know what happens to Dora Mae. Pick a number: the darkest episode that Ron Moore ever wrote, bar none. Makes BSG at its darkest look humane and his DS9 episode cheefully optimistc. However, as opposed to some dark BSG eps which come across as self-indulgent in their gloom, Pick a number is flawless, and filled with deep love for its characters. Back to the vid: oh, the Dreifuss clan. All of them, Rita Sue (talk about a force of nature), Libby, Stumpy - and Dora Mae. Oh, Dora Mae. Watch.

Let's commiserate with each other. :(

You like a guy who's not afraid to fight evil when evil picks a fight. There's a lot to say for bravery in the face of overwhelming odds, even if it does come with a prejudice against people who don't fit into his conception of "good guy" and a penchant for hurling objects across rooms when he gets angry. But in fairness, for an orphan who's spent the better part of his life being hunted by the most evil wizard in existence, he's turned out pretty well. Just be prepared to name your kids after everyone he's ever lost, because he's got a bit of an obsession about the past.

Oh, I don't know. I think you're better off. You and Harry are bound to have some blazing rows, but at least he'll never pull the silent martyr act on you...

Laughter is important to you. You want a guy who's never boring, who can always put a smile on your face, and who can pull the best of pranks and never get caught. Or possibly two such guys. Because let's face it, they're pretty much a two-fer. You get one, you get both. Even if one of them's only a friend, he'll still be around so much you'll feel like you're married to him, too. Sure, they may not seem like the most mature guys in the world, in a traditional sense, but just ask them about their business plan. When they drive you nuts by relentlessly testing their latest inventions on you, you can console youself with that huge stack of cash and dragon-leather jacket. Besides, you know you're powerless against those stereo smiles.

You have a Niki icon! *likes it muchly*

As someone who always felt sorry for Percy, I'm not that enamored with the twins, but they definitely have their good sides. And I have no doubt you'd be able to handle them...

Oh, verily. Poor Percy, they really weren't kind to him. Perverse as it may sound, though, I did like this aspect, since every single sibling in such a huge family getting along wouldn't make sense to me, and Percy was such an easy target. Given the Weasleys' general inclinations, he was clearly more of a rebel than George and Fred, which should have bugged them a lot.

Niki icon: I always adored that scene, and I thought it was time to show her some love. Fear the day when I'll bring out the Maya icons...

From: [identity profile] selenak.livejournal.com
Oh, it was totally realistic. And I loved, loved, loved that Percy didn't die and/or ended up as a villain but was reconciled with his family in the end. (Most people had pinged Percy for one of the DH deaths, but I always said - ask [livejournal.com profile] kathyh that she'd kill off one of the twins because the twins embody childhood and adolescent anarchy, and this is the last book where everyone surviving grows up. And it was a given that one of the Weasleys would die. So, one of the twins, not Percy.)

He. I think there are some Maya icons out there, but one sure doesn't see them often. I SO hope she's going to kill Sylar this season. Maybe the new Star Trek movie will do really, really well?

I had my money on Charlie, actually. Or maybe Arthur, but I guess that would have been a little harsh on Harry. You can only lose so many surrogate fathers before it goes into overkill.

I SO hope she's going to kill Sylar this season. Maybe the new Star Trek movie will do really, really well?

Hope springs eternal? I mean, there's nothing wrong in wishing Zach Quinto a great career...

Charlie was not present often enough for emotional impact. And Arthur, what you said, plus as JKR herself said, it would have necessitated a basic change in Ron's characterisation as a result (she said she had been pondering killing off Arthur in OotP, but because of those reasons let him be saved in time).

Hope springs eternal, indeed...

Yeah, but who cares about emotional impact!

About Percy, I meant to say that I was very glad she didn't kill him, too, though I was pretty astonished to discover that people seemed to think he was on the hitlist. Poor boy never did anything other than quarrel with his family, that's actually quite healthy. And besides, *exactly* what Sirius did as well. One can of course be moralistic and say that rebelling against your elitist-fascist elders is more righteous than making your conservative mark against your kinda-liberal cuddle clan, but at the root of it, they both did the "question your parents' values" thing, and Percy clearly was a lot more mature about it in the end. Of course, he's also not as angsty as Sirius, either, so his storyline was bound to be less melodramatic. [I love Sirius, but I might love mocking him even more. ;)]

Aww, Remus. I've been enamoured with him since I was twelve. (Platonic, though. I'd just want us to be best mates. Or he could be mu professor, that would be cool too.)

The man is so very high-maintenance, though, and goodness knows he won't tell you if something is wrong, daft martyr that he is.

Date: 2008-08-08 02:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] selenak.livejournal.com
Exactly. I'd love to have him either as a professor or mate, too, but I'm high maintenance myself, and would not have the patience for the not telling. Clearly, we're headed for a divorce.

He'll probably end up getting paid alimony by me because he guilt-trips me so much with his martyr act and I know he sucks at earning a decent salary.

That would be very thoughtful of you.

I am a very thoughtful person.

(Also, I firmly believe that, were I in the books, I would be a kooky werewolf activist.

...Why was there no kooky werewolf activist? :( )

Date: 2008-08-08 03:31 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] selenak.livejournal.com
Because Hermione had the market cornered with being an elf activist and it's easier to get the people to root for elves since werewolves of the Fenrir variety are really pretty dangerous?

If I were in the books, I'd be writing crazy articles for Luna's father and be totally responsible for the one that outs Sirius as having another ID as the member of a boyband.

Date: 2008-08-08 03:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] neutralalienist.livejournal.com
Yeah, but Hermione was rather bad at it. I doubt said activist would make much more progress, though, no. (So I console myself and write about Remus' parents being activists.)

...You would be very cool, yes. Especially if you make get pictures.

Apparently my soulmate is Albus Dumbledore. I suspect the universe is laughing at me.

I love that Carnivale vid--I actually got it from a rec somewhere else, so when I saw the "Carnivale vid rec" at the top of your post, I thought, oh yeah, I bet I know what she's talking about. And I was right! \o/ Wonderful, chilling thing; it makes me remember the best parts of the show, even if they were ridiculously heart-breaking. (And I always loved Rita Sue, oh yes.)

Considering that drawing of young Albus I just saw at Katta's? I suspect the universe does. Never fear, though, it could have been worse - it could have been Gellert Grindlewald!

I was a little displeased, on going over and taking the quiz, to find that the artwork is taken without permission and without credit from people's DeviantArt posts.

Thanks for the vid rec. Carnivale (I only watched the first season as I was told hte second one wasn't upto scratch) was one of the most atmospheric shows I've ever seen - and with many strong, older, female characters.

Date: 2008-08-08 05:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] selenak.livejournal.com
You were told correctly, and yes, the first season was wonderfully atmospheric, and amen to the female characters of age and strength. (The way they were treated in s2 is just one of the reasons why you were right not to watch it.)
