01. If you'd like, comment to this entry saying 'ICONS!' and I will pick 6 of your icons.
02. Make an entry in your own journal and talk about the icons I picked!
astrogirl2 gave me the following:
1.

Rewatching Rome in winter reminded me again how incredibly slashy Antony and Lucius Vorenus were.
kathyh agreed and made me this icon, which is using images from the opening scene from the last episode, post-Actium, and the sequence after Antony's suicide when Vorenus washs him and dresses him as a Roman again. (Rome takes considerable historical liberties but does use Antony's "tell the people I died well, that I died Roman" line, which in this case he says to Vorenus who assists him in his suicide.) In case you're not familiar with the show, some kind soul has put the most intense of the Vorenus and Marc Antony scenes on YouTube together, and here they are, watch:
2.

That's Henry Hellrung, actor-turned-superhero. Henry played Tony Stark in an Iron Man tv series, hung out with the real Tony during the later's alcoholic heydays, and pointedly does not deny the rumour they used to have sex back then. (Tony doesn't deny it, either.) Be that as it may, the more important part of their friendship came into play later. Henry was an alcoholic as well, which is why his career crashed (and no, he wasn't invented after Robert Downey Jr. was cast as Tony Stark for the movie, but a good while before that); he sobered up thanks to AA, became a full time spokesman and sponsored Tony when the later kicked the habit for the second and so far final time. After the Civil War multi crossover extravaganza ended in the Marvelverse a couple of years ago, Tony started a registered-superheroes-in-every-state thing, and for California he picked people who were already celebrities but wanted to become real life heroes. This turned into a superhero group called "the Order", of which Henry was the leader. (On a Doylist level, this was a fabulous spin-off which alas only lasted for two story arcs before it was cruelly cancelled.) Henry's most recent appearance was in Invincible Iron Man when Tony (by now an outlaw himself and on the run; don't ask, it's complicated) showed up for a hug after an AA meeting, which is where this icon is from.
imaginary_alice made it. I'm rather fond of Henry, who is a genuine nice guy (which makes his few exasparated rants all the more memorable) and basically the Vir to Tony's Londo. Err, except for no father-son relationship and that somewhat ambiguous backstory instead. An icon I use for some comics-related entries, fanfic featuring Henry, of course, and when I'm feeling mellow.
3.

David Tennant as Berowne in Love's Labour's Lost. I actually saw him "only" as Hamlet last year in Stratford (in which he as superb, and Patrick Stewart was fantastic as Claudius, and when does the dvd come out again, RSC, so I can relive the event?), not as Berowne, but the Hamlet icons didn't really make me happy, and so I picked this one, for theatrical and Shakespeare-related entries. Icon courtesy of [Unknown site tag], who made also some of my other DT-featuring icons. She knows how to put him in a good light. *g*
4.

Maria LaGuerta, from Dexter. One of my two Dexter icons, featuring LaGuerta, who is one of my favourite characters of the show. A very three dimensional woman, with genuine flaws and strengths. Initially introduced in an unfavourable light, she starts to gain dimensions in the fourth episode of the show when we see that when she screws up, she doesn't blame someone else but herself and sets to work to rectify this. I love her quite a lot, and use her when talking about the show. Icon by goddess_naunett.
5.

Arvin Sloane, my favourite character from Alias, played by the superb Ron Rifkin. Sloane starts out as the main antagonist, becomes a shady ally, has an amazing redemption arc in the fourth season and then goes back to the dark side in the fifth, but while I'm not happy about that and maintain the fourth season finale would have been way better to end both his and the show's story, I don't think it was an ooc development, either. Very complex guy, and also a man of faith who gets into situations where it's either his obsession or his nearest and dearest, with whom John Locke and Ben Linus from Lost would find a lot to talk about. The icon is by Eirena, with whom when I was playing Sloane for fandom_muse I did some great rp's (she was both Irina and Sydney).
6.

That's an actual Joss Whedon quote from a debate at Whedonesque, when one of the posters chided another poster for slashing Angel and Spike, saying "in my world, heroes don't bugger each other". Which is when Joss himself posted with just that quote which amused the hell out of me. Icon by
earth_vexer. I use it for Joss related entries, and/or comments regarding Angel/Spike.
