This just in: in the next season of The Sarah Jane Adventures, there will be a two parter in which Sarah Jane teams up with Jo Grant AND the Doctor. Written by one Russell T Davies.
....
JOOOOO! Mind you, the SJS & Jo prospect alone would be enough to make me happy. That the Doctor joins them is an additional bonus (a part of me is just the littlest bit sad it can't be Ten, not that I don't like Eleven, I do, I do, but it would mean more to the Old Who fanboy David T. to play this, and he can't just help radiate fannish adoration at former Companions whenever he's around them, so I can only imagine what he'd be like with Sarah Jane and Jo). As is RTD writing the tale. Say what you want about Our Rusty, he brings on the reintroduction of old school characters into the new 'verse like no one's business, and he's just so good with the quiet emotional moments between madcap adventures.
In conclusion, glorious companion team up for the win! JOOOOOOOO! Oh Miss Grant, Miss Grant, you snuck up on me and conquered my heart when everyone belittled you as a bad example of a companion, and now I shall see you again on my tv screen. With Sarah. And the kids. And the Doctor.
...incidentally, given the ongoing bitching about Amy Pond's miniskirts, I just hope Jo drags out her old boots and mini. Just because. I'm sure Katy Manning would still look smashing in them. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, Brigadier.
Jo!

Date: 2010-04-20 01:15 am (UTC)Jo is not in the top tier of my favourite companions, but I am fond of her and she's one of the people from the classic series that I've most wanted to see back. A Sarah Jane Smith and Jo Grant team-up is EPIC WIN especially since they shared a Doctor back in the day.
And I agree - when the Daily Mail and other media sources try to make a fuss over Amy's skirts, I think of Jo and roll my eyes. (Not to mention that Leela, Zoe and many another classic series companion were known to dress in sexy outfits, but Jo is the one famous for her miniskirts.) The Doctor should so introduce Jo to Amy - between the fashion sense and the lockpicks, those two would have plenty to talk about.
(Having just read wonderful news about an upcoming Fringe episode as well, I may be in danger of exploding from fangirl happiness.)

He should, and they would, but given that is an SJA adventure and there also has to be screentime for the kids reacting to whatever happens, I suspect Amy won't be in the story. (Perhaps she's visiting friends during the time it takes place?) Ah, well, we can always write an epilogue, where Amy gets to meet her predecessors.
