Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it and season's greetings to those who don't! (Also, thank you for the lj gifts, various friends, and
kathyh &
elisi for the new lj banner being put up.) The Aged Parents & self as ever did our annual nativity scenes walk through Bamberg and its churches. However, this year's pic spam also contains some Munich in winter from snapshots I took through the last weeks that were never enough to post them.
The Munich city hall, with christmas tree in front:

And some ice skating at the Stachus, a square not far from the city hall:

At the Odeonsquare:

On to my hometown and various artisans recreating the nativity in various churches. Also starring: the snowstorm through which we walked, surrounding the cathedral.
As for the weather: that's our Dom, the cathedral, from one of the other six hills. (Bamberg has seven, hence our ever so modest calling ourselves "the Franconian Rome".) Seen through all the falling snow as quickly as I could snap before my camera got wet.

This time, we went in reverse order to how we usually visit them and started with St. Martin's.

Next was the Obere Pfarre. I got a good overview so you can see how large the whole ensemble there is:

Details:

The service for children was about to start in half an hour, so some of the players were already there:

It is a very pretty church:

And outside, opposite the church, there was one more nativity scene:

On to the Karmelitenkirche:

And now for the crowning collection, in the Maternkirche where there is an exhibition during December and until January 6th each year:
Someone chose the less common topc of the three wise men in front of Herod:

Then there was this one, Franconian style:

The Tanzania nativity:

Nativity scene in Alpine surroundings:

Looking for an inn to stay in a Bamberg street, actually:

And thus I leave you for now, wishing you once more frohe Weihnachten!
