Remix!

Remix Redux 2012 is open for business! I really like the Remix ficathon, not least because of the meta-ness of the premise; engaging with each other's writing, shaking and stirring stories and be inspired by them to create your own stories. Granted, I also had my moments (read: weeks) of panic when thinking I couldn't find an angle for me in my remixees stories, or wondering about the reception (yes, this isn't a "gift" ficathon, but you still wonder, don't you?), but these are part of the adrenaline fun. :)

Awesome. I've never done Remix Redux, only Remix Duello, but I really enjoyed the experience of remixing.

Not sure yet whether I'm going to sign up for this. I think I only qualify with Star Trek:TNG, and those are stories that I wrote a long time ago, so it lessens some of the immediacy. But maybe I'll pinch hit or write treats, if those are allowed.

I have no idea bout treats, but I think they're always grateful for pinch hits. I qualify for less fandoms this year than I used to myself, because I haven't written enough, or anything, in the new fandoms they added and wrote too much crossover stuff in the old ones, but I still could offer five, thanks to my old Jossverse, DS9 and Highlander fic. (Merlin is the only still open canon fandom I'm qualified in, that and comics because the perimeters there are so boad.)

However, I've found that sometimes you're assigned a remixee who happens to share other fandoms not on the list as well with you, and it's always possible to take those. (That's what I did the second time I did the ficathon, because I got the same writer I had remixed the last time, and it resulted in my one and only Rome story.)

I looked up the allowed fandoms and discovered of all my fandoms, I only had two that qualified, one of which I haven't written in for years (because the show is no longer on TV) and the other of which no longer thrills me as it did. (Highlander and Harry Potter, respectively.) Indeed, I've never seen most of the Remix fandoms--and of the ones that I have seen, I either haven't written more than one or two stories or haven't written anything at all.

Ironically, I've written seventeen stories (including two novellas and one novel) for my current fandom of choice, which considered too big for Yuletide...but it's not one of the fandoms for Remix. Pity.
