This is excellent. I see why you were worried about how the original author might react, I hope she isn't too outraged. I can also recognise one of your usual meta fanfic themes in the difference between "villain falls obsessively in love with a single other person" and actual redemption.

I kept having inappropriately humorous flashbacks to your early "the Master gets resurrected as Avon" idea, though.

Thank you! Re: original author, I haven't heard from her yet, and if she's in lj/dw, it is under another name, so I have no idea how she's taking it. Which leaves an educated guess. :( Well, I knew that was a risk, but I so wanted to write this story. I always wanted to tackle Jack post Children of Earth one day, but never felt up to it, until reading that particular story.

Considering I not only put the Master into Avon that one time, but also into the ring with his wife having no intention of releasing him, methinks I must have a subconscious kink for the Master being tripped up by his own body snatching. But there were years between each story and I swear I didn't notice until reading your comment!

...and now the original author has reacted in the comments, focusing on the He's a centuries old sociopath fixated on one single person who can't imagine love outside of a specific romantic context line, which hurt her deeply. I've tried to explain, especially since her reply was very courteously and thoughtfully written.
