Once more into the breach...
Dec. 4th, 2017 05:38 pmHave accepted that I'll spend the rest of December in a state of semi-exhaustion. Not for unpleasant reasons, but it does prevent me from posting a lot. To get back into the swing of things next year, I'll do the January Talking Meme again.
Pick a date below and give me a topic, and I'll ramble on. I'm good at talking. It can be anything from fandom-related (specific characters, actors, storylines, episodes, etc.) to life-related to pizza preferences to whatever you want.
They will probably be brief, or not, depending on the subject. Also, I reserve the right to decline prompts that I don't feel equipped to meet.
Topics: you can get an idea from my tags/from the stuff I usually ramble about/from things you maybe wish I talked about more but don't. Also, please feel free to check out last year's post and the one from two years ago for topics I've already written about.

Date: 2017-12-15 06:49 pm (UTC)Here are some ideas, which you can adopt or dismiss as you like:
1) Favorite historical anachronisms (as in those are common enough to occur across multiple stories). Fee free to dismiss this if it's too similar to Jan 11.
2) Reasons to watch the first season of Farscape. (This is a totally selfish one. I bogged done in the middle of season 1 and as a non-binger am looking for near-term encouragement.)
3) Why Doc on Wynona Earp is your favorite and what lines of development would be most interesting for his character? (I know you've only seen season 1, so this would be a strict no-spoilers-in-the-comments, but as someone who came very late to Doc appreciation I want to hear more of your perspective.)
4) Space stations v. space ships: how do the settings shape their stories? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each? You can draw from as many media examples as you please.
5) As someone who didn't know you at all back in the Buffy days, how do you think the legacy of that show plays out today? What good or bad things has it added to our media landscape? What have the shows that followed it done better or worse? Are their any elements that haven't been copied or elaborated on?
6) Who are your favorite villains who are not/should not be redeemed, and why?
7) Hmm. Not sure how to phrase this one: What can STD do with the mirror verse given that we who are watching are unfortunately living in a mirror verse of our own? How does our current political nightmare affect the show, given that historically the mirror verse was there to show an alternative to the relatively optimistic ST future?
8) To combine with the above or treat separately: Is the current political crisis affecting how you consume media, and if so, how?
